Vad har ändrats Skill Builder - US-version
The What’s Changed? skill builder is an educational app designed to improve students' phonemic awareness, a crucial skill for learning to read. Developed by Accessible Publishing Systems Pty Limited, this free app focuses on developing phonemic awareness with vowel sounds and consonant blends through interactive exercises.
The app helps students identify changes in sounds within words by listening to two non-words and determining what has changed between them. It covers various types of changes, such as identifying the sound that changed, substituting a new letter for the changed sound, specifying the letter for an added or omitted sound, and switching two letters for switched sounds.
In addition to phonemic awareness, What’s Changed? also develops segmentation and blending skills, enabling students to segment words into individual sounds and then blend them together for whole-word reading. This is essential for successful reading comprehension.
The app offers three categories, each with four levels of increasing difficulty. The Standard English category focuses on common letter-sound knowledge, while the Readable English category includes non-standard sounds of letters. The Color category uses colors to represent sounds, enhancing auditory discrimination skills.
Suitable for students of all ages, particularly emerging and struggling readers, as well as English language learners, What’s Changed? allows parents and teachers to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement. It provides a comprehensive and engaging way to enhance phonemic awareness and reading skills.
